Public Meeting Set On New Playground At Robert K. Rees Park

Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources plans to replace and possibly expand the playground at Robert K. Rees Memorial Park.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources plans to replace and possibly expand the playground at Robert K. Rees Memorial Park (Green Key) at 4835 Green Key Road in New Port Richey.

Residents are invited to help shape the future playground elements, design and amenities by sharing their vision at a public meeting on Tuesday, July 9 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peace Hall on Sims Lane and Grand Boulevard.

Located less than two miles west of U.S. 19, the 45-acre conservation park on the Gulf of Mexico features Green Key Beach, New Port Richey's only public beach.

The park currently has a playground with slides, swings, spring toys and a pirate ship with a slide

The park also features a 650-foot boardwalk that meanders through the mangroves and wetlands to a two-story observation deck for dolphin spotting. A haven for bird watchers, the park is home to ospreys, blue herons and cranes.

The park also features two rock-based ramps for launching kayaks and canoes, fishing areas and large pavilions with grills for picnicking.

The 920-foot-long beach has a designated 185-foot swimming area, a free-standing outdoor shower, restrooms and water fountains.

Open from dawn to dusk seven days a week, parking is $2.
