Retailers Offer Discounts to Honor New Port Richey's 90th

The city and its businesses are pulling out the stops for a celebratory bash.

New Port Richey is turning 90 and area residents are invited to help the city celebrate the milestone.

Festivities begin on Friday, Oct. 24 as some retailers throughout the city begin to offer discounts in recognition of the big day. Specials being offered, according to the city, include:

  • Boulevard Beef & Ale, 6236 Grand Blvd. – This eatery plans to offer 10 percent savings on sandwiches and 25 percent off all dinners Friday-Monday.
  • Karl Reef, 6307 Grand Blvd. – Throughout the weekend and on Monday patrons can enjoy $4 Captain Morgan and deep eddy sweet tea vodka and magic bombs at four for $10.
  • The Barber Shop, 6315 Adams St. – Haircuts are on sale all day Friday and Saturday for $9.
  • New Port Richey Dry Clean, 5804 Main St. – It’s offering 10 percent off laundered shirts and 25 percent off dry cleaning services from Friday through Monday. Call 727-849-4080 for more information.
  • 1st Down Sports Bar, 5748 Main St. – Domestic drafts will only cost 90 cents on Monday.

The city’s official incorporation took place on Oct. 27, 1924. In light of that, the West Pasco Historical Society plans to open Monday at 1 p.m. Classic films will also be shown at the Richey Suncoast Theatre starting at 2 p.m. and the KIA trolley will offer historic city tours starting at 3:30 p.m.

Mayor Rob Marlowe will close a time capsule and cut a birthday cake at 6 p.m. while a classic car show, live music and displays takeover Railroad Square.
