Sheriff Says New Port Richey Man Broke 2-Year-Old's Clavicle

A 30-year-old New Port Richey man has been arrested for aggravated child abuse after a 2-year-old in his care sustained a broken clavicle.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- A 30-year-old New Port Richey man has been arrested for aggravated child abuse after a 2-year-old in his care sustained a broken clavicle and dislocated shoulder.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrested Andrew Mikel Elliott Sunday, Oct. 28, after the child told his mother that Elliott hurt him. The mother and her children had been staying with Elliott. She fled the home and took the 2-year-old to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point where doctors diagnosed the injuries.

Initially, Elliott told detectives that the child fell off a swing. He then amended his story and said the injury was caused when he picked up the child after changing his diaper.
