Tax Collector Mike Fasano Teams Up with Community Volunteer Corps to Help Homeless Children in Pasco County

Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano has teamed up with the Community Volunteer Corps to collect food, clothing and hygiene items for homeless children in Pasco County during the month of August. The Community Volunteer Corps’ mission is to support the Pasco County Students in Transition Program by providing basic supplies that will allow homeless students to stay in school. Cash donations will be used to purchase needed items. Donations of school supplies, clothing and personal care items will be given directly to any student who is in need.

The Pasco County Tax Collector will collect the supplies, clothing and hygiene items in each of its five Pasco County offices: Wesley Chapel, Gulf Harbors – New Port Richey, Central Pasco Government Center - Land O’ Lakes, East Pasco Government Center - Dade City and West Pasco Government Center – New Port Richey. Individuals interested in donating may bring in unwrapped items and leave them in specially marked boxes located in the lobby of each office. Cash donations will be accepted in labeled collection jars located on the service counters. It is estimated that there are 2600 homeless children in Pasco County, A cash donation of $5.00 (five dollars) will purchase a complete hygiene kit for one child (wash cloth, bar soap, vented hair brush, shampoo, deodorant, tooth brush and tooth paste).

“The Community Volunteer Corps (CVC) would like to thank Mike Fasano and the members of the Pasco Tax Collectors office for sponsoring the CVC during the month of August as part of their monthly charities sponsorship program,” states Dan Dede, founder of the Community Volunteer Corps. “The CVC‘s mission is to support homeless students as they go through school. Your donations will go a long way in making a difference in these homeless student’s lives.”

“I encourage customers to consider supporting the excellent work that the Community Volunteer Corps does for homeless children in our county,” Tax Collector Mike Fasano suggests. “One of the Corps’ goals is to help homeless students not be set apart from students who do have a home. Former Sheriff’s deputy Dan Dede and his staff of volunteers work closely with school social workers and other staff to make sure the children discreetly receive their items. The work the Corps does helping disadvantaged children in our community receive the most basic items needed to make daily life as comfortable as possible is admirable. Your donation of cash, clothing, school supplies or toiletries will make a world of difference to a homeless child in our community.”
