Tip Leads to Arrest in New Port Richey Murder

The man was brought into custody on Tuesday.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – A 23-year-old New Port Richey man faces murder charges after Pasco County Sheriff’s detectives linked him to the Sunday stabbing death of his roommate.

According to the agency Michael Austin Kamees was brought into custody Tuesday night. A tip received through Crimestoppers, the agency noted in an email, helped in the investigation and “was instrumental in allowing deputies to make a quick arrest.”

Kamees is accused of stabbing Peter Gaffney, 36, to death on Sunday. Gaffney was found in his 4936 Green Key Road home after emergency medical services received a call.

Kamees was booked into to the Land O’ Lakes Jail and was being held without bond as of Wednesday morning.
