Varsity Football Preview: Ty'Shon Peters
The Gulf Buccaneers varsity football team has athletes, and here's a look at one of them, senior Ty'Shon Peters.
Ty’Shon Peters is going to be a huge asset to the Gulf High School Buccaneers' offense and defense when football season begins.
Peters can play quarterback, wideout, cornerback, safety, linebacker and defensive end. He’s ranked 98th out of 160 top seniors in the state of Florida on flavarsity.com as a cornerback.
Buccaneers coach Tom Carter says, “Wherever we put him is going to benefit the team.”

Peters missed half the Buccaneers games last season as he found himself embroiled in the middle of a recruiting controversy. With an opportunity to play a full season directly ahead for him, Peters looks to make up for the missed games and make a big name for himself.
Last season, Peters had four touchdowns, six interceptions, and 343 passing yards through four games with 41 passing attempts.

During this summer's 7-on-7 league matchups against other high schools, Peters’ presence was felt on both sides of the field, whether he was getting interceptions off opposing quarterbacks or delivering a perfect ball in the end zone.
Peters’ versatility is especially “advantageous,” according to Carter because of the lack of numbers on the squad, which makes Peters a valuable player.
“I never feel pressure,” says Peters.
Carter and Peters are certain they have the players to give the Bucs a chance at contending with any team in the county.
Peters mentions players like Jeff Kruse and Phoenix Burr when talking about the importance of player leadership, and the difficult task of preparing the team mentally, as well as physically in the upcoming season.
“I’m glad we’re the sleeper team. We have a lot of hard working kids on the team including the coaching staff,” said Peters.
In the scant short weeks before the upcoming football season begins, Peters wants to get into “top-notch shape” and unify the team.
“We need to put a lot of work in. We’re going to take one day at a time, and get better each day,” said Peters.
