Whiskey River: The Address Says Port Richey, But They’re On OUR Side of the River…
…So, as far as I'm concerned, I'm claiming them as ours.
The best way to picture Whiskey River is to recall images of every burger place you went to in college, including the life-sized statue of Captain Morgan in the bar.
The bar and dining room are outfitted with lime-green and red booths, walls floors and ceilings. This decorator’s nightmare (yes, I know it was done by design) is redeemed with a fantastic view of the Cotee River and dining on the pier. The bar features nearly open-air dining with huge windows and shutters that open everything to the river. Lunch on the sun-drenched deck is all the ambience I need.
Service is casual, friendly and accommodating. The menu recently underwent a renovation. Gone are the Pasco Dip - their version of a French dip, served on a deliciously crunchy baguette, and the 5 and 5, an appetizer of five wings and five onion rings.

I’ve had great burgers, all made with their signature rub, but be careful with the hot pepper burger. I love spicy dishes, and this one is really hot… definitely not for novices. The wings are terrific. But my real treat from Whiskey River is the onion rings. Crunchy, batter-dipped outside with sweet, tender onion inside. I don’t care for the french fries. To me, they’re limp and soggy, but another friend told me that’s the way she likes them-with malt vinegar, of course. So… order according to your preference. My only negative comment would be about the nachos. Processed cheese spread doesn’t do it for me, ever.
Whiskey River boasts several bars and dining rooms and also pier and deck seating, and an upstairs room for private functions. Weekend entertainment keeps the place jumping. Go for dinner and stay for the music.
