Pasco School Bus Collides With Car, Trapping New Port Richey Woman Beneath It

A 59-year-old New Port Richey woman has died after being trapped inside her car after colliding with a Pasco school bus.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A 59-year-old New Port Richey woman had died after being trapped inside her car after colliding with a Pasco County school bus.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 6:02 a.m. Wednesday, a school bus with no children aboard was heading north on Old Tampa Bay Road.

Troopers said the 50-year-old bus driver from Land O' Lakes failed to stop at the intersection of State Road 52 and entered the path of the New Port Richey woman's car, which struck the left side of the bus and became wedged beneath it, trapping the driver inside.

After rescue workers freed the woman, she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. She died at 5:55 p.m. Friday.
