Xbox, PlayStation Networks Still Having Troubles
Has the cyberattack changed your holiday plans, Tampa Bay?

Tampa Bay area residents who opened shiny new video games Thursday may have found themselves unable to play thanks to a cyberattack that disrupted both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The effects of that attack were still being felt Friday morning.
The XBox Live status page reported the gaming service was operating at limited capacity Friday morning. PlayStation reported its service was still offline Friday morning, as well.
A group known as Lizard Squad has taken credit for the disruption, News-Press reported. That group also attacked the PlayStation Network and online games such as World of Warcraft over the summer.

Neither gaming company indicated how soon the problems would be resolved.
It is believed the Lizard Squad used a distributed denial of service attack, which essentially means they flooded the gaming serves with illegitimate traffic to overwhelm them, CNN reported.
