Air Pollution Precaution Issued For Hillsborough County

This alert remains in effect thru midday Friday.

The Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County is issuing an Air Pollution PRECAUTION due to elevated levels of particulate matter, specifically PM2.5. This precautionary statement is effective immediately today, 03/03/2022. Due to fires in Central and South America, as well as fires in the eastern U.S., there is still a potential to reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups.

Although we are not currently experiencing high levels of Ozone, there is the potential to see high moderate levels because of the elevated PM2.5 in our area.

Since, we are experiencing high moderate levels with Air Quality Index values from 51 - 100, unusually sensitive individuals, such as the elderly, children, and individuals with respiratory ailments may consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors this afternoon and this evening. As a result, this alert remains in effect thru midday tomorrow, Friday 3/4/2022.
