Battle Cancer with the New Tampa Chamber
The business organization will bring its members up to date on the upcoming New Tampa Relay for Life during its March 12 meeting.

The New Tampa Chamber of Commerce is giving its members an update on both during its March 12 regular membership meeting. The group will hear from former chamber president Rachel Haviland, a doctoral graduate from the University of South Florida, the chamber's website says.
Haviland defended her dissertation in cancer biology in 2011, according to the USF website. Haviland will talk to members about the latest cancer research.

Meeting attendees will also hear from New Tampa’s Relay for Life co-chairs Lesley Zajac and Tom Gruber, according to the organization’s website. They’ll talk “about the importance of the work American Cancer Society is doing and how your local team is supporting their research efforts,” the website says.
The New Tampa Relay for Life is set to begin at 6 p.m. May 17 at Freedom High School, 17410 Commerce Park Blvd. So far, 35 teams have signed up and they’ve raised more than $11,000 for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. To find out more, visit the event website.

The chamber’s meeting takes place Tuesday, March 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Hunter’s Green Golf & Country Club, 18101 Longwater Run Drive. The cost is $20 at the door. For more information about the chamber, visit it online.
