3 Thoughts From Tim Tebow's Departure
What do you do in difficult situations? Like when the crisis hits, you lose a job, or get a bad report? Here are three leadership lessons that can help us through every difficult situation.

I was really encouraged last night when I skimmed through my twitter feed, and happened upon Tim Tebow’s tweet from earlier in the day. He quoted Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
It’s a great verse, and one that I cling to for my own life. But Tim’s situation was difficult yesterday. He was fired. The Jets let him go, and said we don’t need you anymore. Regardless of the money he’s made or success he’s had…that hurts! It would’ve been easy to just hide, or worse, find something ugly to say on his way out. Instead, Tim Tebow (like he’s done time after time) took the high road.

Here’s 3 takeaways from Tebow’s departure:
1. Difficulties produce determination or defeat…it’s your choice.

I’m amazed at how Tim Tebow consistently uses the difficulty in his life to get better. That’s not easy (especially when the world is watching). Put ourselves in his shoes, and we might’ve given up on the football career long ago. Not Tebow. He’s relentless, determined, and willing to do whatever it takes to be the best he can be.
We can view difficulties as stepping stones or stumbling blocks. Our attitude in the midst of opposition is what makes the difference.
2. How you leave is how you’ll be remembered.
This was Tebow’s opportunity. He could’ve easily spent yesterday throwing dirt on the NY Jets. He could’ve talked about the poor decisions they made, the way he was mistreated, the lack of team chemistry, and on and on. He didn’t. That’s not the way leaders leave.
He did the same thing yesterday that he did when he won the National Championship: he gave God the praise. He took what could’ve turned into a lot of negative attention, and redirected it to Jesus.
3. In every situation, trust God.
Tim Tebow took the high road yesterday. Better than that, he took the trusting road. It’s the one that says no matter what I’m facing or going through, God has his hand on my life, and I can trust Him through every turn.
We didn’t get fired from the NY Jets, but each one of us has our own set of trials and difficulties that we’re facing. God’s desire is that we could go through every situation knowing that when we trust HIM, He will make our path straight. Today is a new day and a second chance.
Remember what James 1:2-3 says: My friends, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure.
Whatever you’re facing, keep trusting!
