Apathy hurts

As I sit at my desk and take in the barrage of phone calls, wondering when I will have a job that requires an ounce more of mental stimulation, I wonder if anyone else is sitting at their job pondering the economy as I am. 

The first thing at the top of my list is where were all the voters when we needed them?! Many of the people complaining and suing the government did not go out and exercise their right to vote. If you did not vote, that does not give you the right to complain!

How do people think laws change? Why do you think people stand outside of libraries, grocery stores and other public places trying to get you to sign their petitions? They see something wrong and are attempting  to make  a change. I need the American citizens to open their eyes and ears and hearts to the happenings of our country.

You want to be all sanctimonious, take off your hat and put your right hand across your heart to recite the Pledge of Alliegance and sing the national anthem but you don't want to vote. Oh yes, I am calling a spade a spade today. I am sick of people voicing their opinions but not putting their ballot where it counts!

I know, I know. You're saying Kia, isn't it early to get on the voting bandwagon?! NOT AT ALL ! It's time for people to start looking at laws and policies currently in place that they want to change. It's time to make sure you have updated your voter regristration cards and eyed the candidates who want to run for the next presidential election. It's time to start looking past political parties, gender, and race, and vote for the candidate who seeks to do the best for all involved. 

I don't know how Gov. Scott can justify cutting DJJ, public employee salaries, etc. etc. And why are other elected officials allowing him to do so? I don't care if Florida is one of the only states where employees don't contribute to their pension plans. It's also one of the only states that has a voting issue every time it's time to vote. What is up with privatizing public education anyway? Maybe someone should be rallying for an increase in public employee salaries, seeing as how some of them haven't had raises in 6 years when they DESERVE IT. People do not like to work and feel unappreciated! 

I don't just have issues with Scott though. I have issues in general because I don't know how people can expect the president to fix in 4 years what took 8-plus years to destroy. I also don't know how you can jump down the president's throat when you (once again back to voting) didn't help elect representatives and senators who shared his same goals and vision for the country.  That's like taking die hard Buc fans and wanting them to cheer for the Mavericks. Yes, I know one team is football and the other is basketball but is what I'm trying to express clicking now?!  UGH!!!!! 

I'm frustrated with the economy. I want to know when the tide is going to change because too many people are suffering. It's like the stimulus was just a Bandaid covering a pus-filled abscess. It temporarily stopped the drainage. Doesn't anyone hear the people screaming, yelling, crying out from the pain of the abscess?!

Why in H -E- double hockey sticks are we fighting in Afghanistan with gas prices tripling (although 87 octane was only $3.49 the other day) and food prices soaring along with rents and mortages so much so that foreclosures, repossessions and evictions are common???!!!  I just read in today's TBT that even teenagers are struggling to obtain summer jobs to pay for their activities!! When is relief coming? ... When apathy dies out and people begin to realize that EVERY ballot counts?
