Black Cats Bad Luck? Nope.

It doesn't matter if you are a cat person or not, you have heard the old saying that black cats are bad luck, especially if they cross your path. Those of us in the rescue community couldn't argue more about this statement, and we think black cats are just the opposite. Lovable, cuddly, perfect companions and very lucky! 

Many black cats are passed over for adoption and instead the "prettier" cats are chosen. The exotic cats such as Himalayans, Persians, and Siamese tend to be the most sought after.  

I never had a black cat until 2011 when we adopted our first adult male black cat from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. He was four at the time and came from Animal Services. HSTB rescued him, he was adopted and then brought back the next day. We adopted him right away and because of him, we now have four black cats.  

If you don't have a black cat, or any cat for that matter, I give you 13 reasons that black cats are awesome:

13. We are really exotic indoor panthers!!

12. You'll never lose us in a snowstorm.

11. We don't show dirt.

10. We are friendlier than other cats.

9. We are happier because we look thinner!

8. We are always sleek, stylish, and elegant looking.

7. We go with any decor.

6. We can be slimming when draped over your lap.

5. We are always appropriately dressed at cocktail parties.

4. Black is the new black.

3. Love knows no color.

2. We already have a Halloween costume.

1. We take the longest to get adopted and need your help the most!

Consider opening up your home and heart and adopting a furbaby that needs a home. You won't be disappointed.
