Collectively Artful on Performing

So why would you want your child to be up on stage performing? What are the benefits for them? Read on to find out a few of my favorite.

We are on a fast performance track right now at Collective Soles Arts Group.

It’s a busy, busy, busy spring here! Our studio is performance oriented, our students and performers get many opportunities to show off their talent on stage.

The next few months are no exception. Just this week we have four performances at HCC for the “4 Days of Dance”

Mrs. Della and her posse will be at Wiregrass Mall for our “Moving to Read” program for toddlers (so cute; be sure and check it out if you have a little one) on April 24.

Right on the heels of that will be the beautifully staged and choreographed spring dance concert, “Once Upon a Time." Some of the costumes have been showing up at the studio and they are adorable. It’s going to be so fabulous!

So why would you want your child to be up on stage performing? There are so many reasons, but I am going to remind you of a few:

  • It will challenge them mentally and physically. All of those moves have to be memorized and learned.
  • It will boost their self-confidence. One of the great things about performing is you get immediate gratification from your audience through their applause. Any performer will tell you that is the best confidence booster we can get.
  • It provides self-discipline. You have to show up to classes and rehearsals and practice, practice, practice to really get better and excel in your area of performance.
  • It allows students to express themselves. Some people have a easier time expressing themselves through movement or music as opposed to the written word, an instrument or visual arts like painting.
  • It develops teamwork. I often tell my students that being in a show is like being on a baseball team. Everyone is important. Everyone has to work together to bring a performance to its highest level.
  • And, of course, it’s fun! You meet new friends, you practice and perform together. One of my students recently posted on Facebook that her musical theater friends were like a second family to her. I completely understand that feeling. When you work hard on a project, you form emotional bonds and make lasting memories with the people around you.

So come out and join us for one or more of our performances coming soon. We need you in the audience to clap and cheer for our performers. We would love to see you come and Celebrate the Arts with us at Collective Soles Arts Group.
