Olympic Face-Slapping

United States olympians decked out in Chinese-made uniforms. Yes, it's true.

If last year's olympics were any indication, this one's surely will be. Tucked away in the back corner of the national news section of the Tampa Bay Times is an Associated Press clip. The headline read, "China-made US Olympic uniforms cause furor". Compelled to read on, I was horrified to find out that the United States Olympic Team was going to wear an entire line of Chinese-manufactured uniforms in the 2012 London Olympics. According to the artice the uniforms were desinged by Ralph Lauren, and now, I know that Ralph Lauren's already overpriced apparel is indeed made in China.

I searched for some olympic apparel myself beign a huge fan. The best I could do was El Salvador, I bought it. I could not bring myself to purchase any US Olympic Team that was made in China. I cannot believe that the Olypmic Commitee or whatever or whoever made the decision, could make that call, even if it is Ralph Laurern. Could they not have made an exception, re-kindled an old factory for the express purpose of making Team USA uniforms(wink wink)? Alas, it did not happen. Now we get to parade down the boulevard for the opening ceremony with Chinese-made uniforms (sigh).

Does that sting any body else the way it stings me?

I recently scored one for the team at the hardware store. I'm purchasing downspouts and fittings and junk for getting my rain catchers all set up for rainy season(ahem, little tardy on that). However, vinly downspouts and junk are cheaoer but made in Canada. Aluminum ones are a two bucks and change more but made iin the USA. I guess you can imagine what my downspouts are now made of.

Is anyone as upset as I am about this?
