Peabody's = Watering Hole

Peabody's, home sweet home.

If you attend USF, HCC, UCF, UF, or any college/university in Florida for that matter, you have most likely stumbled upon

 Tucked tightly between a rock and a hard place (Amberly Drive), Peabody's has been an active establishment since 1986. On any given night of the week, you can walk into Peabody's and find a familiar face. A suggestion for non-smokers: be prepared for the stench of nicotine as it is one of the only bars left in the world that you can smoke in. Although the crowd is suggestively young, there is still the older "hip" straggler amongst the pool tables and multiple bars. In toto, Peabody's is a place where the wild get together for a good time.

This being said, I went to Peabody's last night to relive my glory days. Similar to a theme park for kids, the stench of alcohol and cigarettes along with the sound of thumping music, laughter, pool tables and dart boards was immediately appealing. All of my senses were alert as I mingled shoulder to shoulder with friends and strangers alike. Notorious for a hot, young, rambunctious crowd, Peabody's is a great singles bar (if you don't want a relationship that will last). The mix of booze, music, and dancing has always acted as an aphrodisiac to me, and just the thought of Peabody's is walking on dangerous grounds.

Speaking of danger, it is no secret that leaving Peabody's can take an ugly turn if you are not careful. Bruce B. Downs, considered The Gauntlet by most New Tampanians, is a D.U.I certainty when leaving Peabody's after drinking too much. Overall, this gathering of raw human nature at its best/worst is a great time if you are looking to have a good time and make some bad fun/bad decisions.

Here is their website.
