Saturday Night is Date Night!

Cool Cars, a lovely date and great food. What a great way to spend a Saturday night!

My wife and I are of the age when going on “a car date” meant something.  When we grew up, it was a big deal to own or even have access to a car.  So I ask, What can be better than taking your honey on “a car date” on a Saturday night?  Not much in my world.

Looking for a place to take your honey on your next date night?

Head up to North Pointe Village in Lutz on the second Saturday of the month and check out the Car Show/Cruise-In.  While you’re there, take some time and enjoy some fantastic food and drinks at one of the several restaurants located in the village.  We did and had a wonderful time.

We took my old Chevy.  Man, I just love driving that car.  Why?  Because when you are on a car date you NEED bench seats so your girl can slide over and snuggle up with you.  Even in the Florida heat and no a/c!  Now that’s true love!

The Cruise-In runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  We arrived closer to 6 and by that time the place was hopping.  They had a live band playing and a fantastic collection of cars and trucks to check out. There was a car for everyone: Antique, Muscle, Street Rods, Traditional Hot Rods and customs.

The setting really adds to the experience.  North Pointe Village is new but has a small town, downtown feel to it.  It’s located at the SE corner of State Road 54 and the Suncoast Pkwy, exit 19.

After walking around and looking at all the cars, we decided that it was time to get something to eat and drink; there are several restaurants to choose from.  We opted for the International Beer Garten.  With 300 bottled beers and 40 on tap to choose from, you can’t go wrong.  We selected some German favorites off the appetizer menu to go with my Murphy’s Red Ale and her martini (yes they have a full liquor bar too).

There are three things that always put a smile on my face, spending time with my wife, cooking and enjoying great food and driving my old car.  When I can combine all three, that’s a great night.
