The All-American Voting Pact
Afraid the, "other" candidate might win? Make a voting pact to vote independently. Help wrest control of the gov't away from the two-party system.
If you're as fed up with both presidential candidates as I am, you'll love this. Regardless of your politcal lean, this two-party system is ruining this country. We must wrest control away from these domineering political parties. How do we do it?
Vote third party.
Think that will waste your vote?

Check this idea.
I am well aware of everyone's hangup about voting for an independent or for a third party candidate. We don't want, "the other guy" to win. Am I right? Is that not the primary hang up for voting for an independent candidate, you give your vote to the other guy.

Here's the solution.
We make a voting pact with a friend or family member. Let's say you are going to vote for Obama because you're scared Romney might win; a sad approach to your most sacred rite as an American but a reality nonetheless. Let's say you are voting for Romney because you're scared Obama might get four more years.
Let's all make a voting pact with one other person who is of a different persuasion. If you are the left-leaner, you make this pact with a friend or family member who is a right-leaner that you will both vote for an independant or third-party candidate. This way neither of you gives a vote away to the other candidate and you both show the gov't that we are tired of this two-party system. It obviously has to be someone you trust enough to actually go in that booth and punch that ticket but it's a great way to reach across the aisle, show the gov't were sick of the two-party game and give much needed votes to voices that don't wear red or blue. Heck, you could even carpool to the polling place together.
Now, if THAT'S not American, I don't know what is.
If anyone can tell me why this is not a great idea, I'd like to hear it in the comments section.
Imagine the possibilities. Imagine American voters taking control back from the politicians. Imagine a better America. America is all about choices. Imagine if we went to the grocery store and there were only two types of bread, two brands of beer, two flavors of ice cream. Having only two choices for elected officials is not democracy. We need other voices in our gov't, ones that offer new ideas instead of tired old ones that have been argued for decades.
I have already made this pact with my person. We are driving to the polling place together and we are logging our votes independently.
I challenge all of you to take this leap of faith with me and show them that we, the people, decide what we want.
