Who Said Cats are Boring? Especially the Black Ones.....
Fostering is a rewarding aspect in the rescue community. Even with the craziness of multiple cats, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
What do you get when you mix six of my personal black cats with four foster black cats? You get mahem and destruction. I admit, I wouldn't have it any other way.
It's hard enough to tell my own black cats apart, it's nearly impossible to tell any of them apart with four additional ones. Add in the fact that they are very playful and full of energy nearly all of the time and all we usually see are black streaks running by us or down the hallway and it makes life very interesting. Do they even sleep? I seriously doubt it.
Everything will be peaceful and then all-of-a-sudden something will crash or a door will slam and we know it's one of the cats up to its antics again. The question is, which one because at this point once the object hits the ground or the door slams, we see black flying everywhere. The trouble makers are attempting to leave the scene of the crime.

And in the fit of craziness and trying to remember who is who, I'm calling out names of cats who aren't even in the room. Not that the trouble makers mind blaming it on another cat. They very much like to see someone else get in trouble for their doings. I think all of the cats get together and discuss ways to make me think I am going crazy. They must have a round table meeting every night or something.
I feel a little bad for the family who adopts my fosters. My personal cats teach them bad habits and I know they take those habits to their new homes.

When one bunch of fosters find their homes, there is always a new set that follows. That means another training period for the 'recruits' and my personal cats get to start the process all over again.
A friend of mine, also our foster/volunteer coordinator tells every foster kitty that comes to my house that they are going to kitty haven. I am starting to believe they really think it is.
Even with all of the craziness they cause, I wouldn't want it any other way. The fosters, my personal cats, all of them bring so much joy to the house that I couldn't imagine life any other way. I wouldn't want it any other way. The most rewarding part is watching the fosters find their forever families. I keep in touch with many families who adopt my fosters and it makes me extremely happy to re-visit the cat in its new environment and to see how much joy they are now providing to their new family.
As far as I'm concerned, objects can crash to the floor and doors can slam, as long as there's laughter and happy pets, I am happy.
