County Approves Anti-Tethering Ordinance

Under the new county ordinance, tethering will be allowed only when the owner or keeper of the dog is present and in visual range while the tethering occurs, ABC Action News reports.

 

Hillsborough County commissioners voted unanimously to ban the practice of tethering dogs in almost all case on Thursday, Jan. 19, according to ABC Action News.

Yet, tethering of dogs younger than six months of age is prohibited in all cases.

The new ban will go into effect in six months in order to give time to residents to educate themselves. Violators will face a civil citation, according to the local TV station.
