HAE EXPERT AND PATIENT ADVOCATE SPEAK UP ABOUT RARE GENETIC CONDITION, OFTEN MISTAKEN FOR A SEVERE ALLERGY; FREE SEMINAR

Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is a condition characterized by spontaneous episodes of edema, or swelling, in the face, feet, hands, throat, and abdomen. This potentially life-threatening condition can be misdiagnosed for years, making life for those who live with it difficult and unpredictable. Laura, a Tarpon Springs resident living with HAE is now speaking out about her experience.

Along with HAE expert Dr. Robert Chrzanowski, of the Allergy Center of Brookstone, Laura will be speaking to other HAE patients and local physicians at an educational event on May 14th, discussing the causes of HAE, its symptoms and treatment options. Tampa was selected for the event because it has a strong support network of HAE patients who are actively seeking and sharing disease information.

The event takes place prior to the first ever Hereditary Angioedema Awareness Day on May 16, 2012.
