Five Questions With a Local Educator

Readers, meet Freedom High School administrator and NASCAR enthusiast Rosemary Owens.

Patch caught up with Assistant Principal of Curriculum Rosemary Owens while on her lunch patrol at in Tampa Palms. Here is what she had to say:

1. Patch: What does an assistant principal of curriculum do?

Owens: I do whatever my principal tells me. I deal with all curriculum-related topics such as the master schedule, textbooks, teachers, certification, etc.

2. Patch: How long have you been an A.P. at Freedom?

Owens: I have been an administrator for 14 years now. I’ve been at Freedom seven years.

3. Patch: What did you do before becoming an A.P?

Owens: I taught special education. I had a family friend that had a disabled sibling and that is why I wanted to go into that field.

4. Patch:  What do you like about working at Freedom?

Owens: I love my coworkers, and I really enjoy the student body. We have a mix of kids, a very diverse population of students.

5. Patch: What is something you do not think your students know about you?

Owens: I was very athletic, I was a tomboy. I drive an F-250 Super Duty diesel. I love NASCAR!
