I've Got My Eye on You

Not surprising, most of my Facebook newsfeed is related to animals. Foster organizations, rescue non-profits, breed specific pages, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, etc.  Every single day, I'm disheartened and angered by the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of animals...but I'm also inspired by people who commit their lives to awareness and saving lives of any and all animals.
Today, I read of the latest trend. People stealing your unattended pets (from your backyard, for instance) and then demanding you pay a reward to get them back. In some cases, taking photos of pets with large chains around their necks, etc.  I'm prompted to say this to dog owners.  As a petsitter and dog walker, but MOSTLY as a responsible dog lover and owner...keep your pets safe from harm. Do what you can to prevent them coming into harms way. Leaving animals unattended outdoors for any time more than a few moments at a time should be avoided. We live in Florida, for one thing. In my Tampa neighborhood, I've seen bobcats, coyotes, and snakes...THIS year! Think of your pet as you do a child; they need our help with safe boundaries and to prevent the likelihood of some creep snatching them from cars and yards.
