Lady Wildcats Emerge from Weekend Tournament 2-1
The Wharton High School volleyball team went 2-1 over the weekend.
After hitting the wall at Steinbrenner, Wharton's Lady Wildcats Volleyball team bounced back by going 2-1 in tournament play this past weekend.
They dispatched Out of Door Academy in two straight games, 25-12 and 25-14. Junior hitter had eight kills over the two games while senior teammate Stephany Brown had seven kills.
The Lady Wildcats gave Springstead a hard time but still lost 2-1. They fell 25-12 in the first game yet came storming back to take the second game 25-18. The tiebreaker was a 15-13 nail-biter that Springstead pulled out in the end.

In the third match, they ran over Bayside Christian 25-12 and 25-18. Andreychuck had 12 kills in that match while Brown had nine. Junior Ashton Stocker had 13 service aces that no doubt kept Bayside off balance.
They have a significant, district matchup with Newsome at 7:30 p.m. today (Oct. 4) at home followed by another district home game against Bloomingdale (Oct. 11) and that basically will set their seeding for the district tournament in late October.
