Man Dies In I-75 Crash Near Bruce B. Downs

TAMPA, FL — A 43-year-old St. Petersburg man is dead following an early Thursday morning crash on Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Paul Duarte Braga was heading southbound on I-75 in the center lane just before 3:30 a.m. when his Isuzu truck left the road. The truck crossed into the median and struck a guardrail.

Troopers say Braga, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

Braga’s daughter, Sonia, 21, suffered minor injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash closed down a portion of the interstate for a time Thursday morning.
