UPDATE: Man Fatally Shot at Area Apartment

This incident occurred around 10 p.m. last night, according to authorities.

 

Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting a of an area man at the 42nd Street Apartments.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred at 14606 42nd Street North around 10 p.m. last night. George Sherry, 37, was in the apartment with four other people when there was a knock at the door by two males, spokeswoman Debbie Carter said in a news release.

The men struggled with the victim, pistol-whipped him and then shot him. The victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he died, according to the release.

Sheriff's deputies said the two suspects are both black and weigh about 160 pounds. One is 6 foot 1 inch tall and was wearing all black clothing and was armed with a handgun. The other is 5 foot 10 inches tall, clean shaven and was wearing a black shirt with a white undershirt, according to the release. The possible vehicle they were driving was a gold compact or mid-size.

information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this suspect and who
