Man Stabbed in Arm During Attempted Robbery

A man walking near the was reportedly stabbed in the forearm during an attempted robbery Sunday.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., according to an article in the St. Petersburg Times, and police are seeking a suspect. The wound was minor but stitches were required.

Such violent incidents are obviously uncommon in New Tampa.

"this is y I am cautious," resident Kia Flowers wrote on New Tampa Patch's Facebook wall. "I think the article said 630. Its not even dark then! O & even more reason y I prefer publix."

According to the St. Petersburg Times, the suspect asked for the victim's wallet and when he did not hand it over, the suspect stabbed him in the arm and then fled from the scene.
