New Fire Station Opening Within Weeks
Station 22 on Cross Creek Boulevard is almost ready to go.

Fire Station 22 will be responding to emergency calls within weeks.
Tampa Fire Rescue says the approximately $1.6 million facility will open this month though no exact date has been set, according to www.tbo.com. The site will become New Tampa's third fire station and is expected to drastically reduce response times for residents and businesses on Morris Bridge Road and the eastern end of Cross Creek Boulevard.

Construction of Station 22 was paid for with federal grant money. Ditto for the salaries of the 15 to 18 rescue workers who will staff the station, according to www.tbo.com.
. Ground was broken on the 8-acre property in March 2011.
