New Walgreens Opens This Fall
The corner of Fletcher Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard will be home to the newest Walgreens store.

The tiled roof is on and the signature pharmacy crucible logo is visible through the tall window above the entrance.
The new Walgreens at the corner of Fletcher Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard on the edge of New Tampa is taking shape. It’s expected to open this fall.
“When we decide to open a new store, there is a lot of information we gather,” said Robert Elfinger, media relations specialist for Walgreens. “We look at the community and it’s demographics, and we also look at the traffic patterns in that area, both vehicular and pedestrian.”

The corner of Fletcher and Bruce B. Downs has a high volume of traffic, making the corner a perfect location for another store, according to Elfinger.
“We try to find the best corners in America to offer convenient pharmacy and retail service,” he said.

The new 14,674-square-foot location will have a double-lane drive-thru for pharmacy customer pickup.
The company hasn’t yet determined whether the new location will be open 24 hours a day, Elfinger said.
“There are a lot of factors that determine whether or not a store will offer 24-hour service,” he said. “It is based on how busy the store is. We have over 1,000 24-hour stores, and that decision will be made at a later time.
Walgreens has more than 14,000 locations across the country. The new store will be the third Walgreens in this area.
