Update: Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Wesley Chapel Driver

The Holiday man walked into the path of an oncoming minivan, officials say.

Alberto Bartolomei, 40, of Wesley Chapel, was driving southbound on Land O’ Lakes Boulevard around 11:30 last night when Florida Highway Patrol officials say a man walked in front of his 2002 Dodge Caravan.

David C. Lowe was walking west across the southbound lanes of Land O’ Lakes Boulevard, north of Causeway Boulevard, when he was struck by the Wesley Chapel man’s minivan, according to a FHP report.

Authorities say the 50-year-old man from Holiday died from injuries at the scene of the accident.

It is unclear at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Toxicology tests are pending on the pedestrian.

The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
