Update: TECO Reporting New Tampa Outage Has Been Fixed
More than 1,000 homes were without power and several major intersections had inoperable traffic lights Friday morning.

Update April 24 8:26 a.m.: Tampa Electric is reporting that service has been restored to the New Tampa area.

The Tampa Police Department is warning motorists that a power outage in the area has rendered lights at several New Tampa intersections inoperable Friday morning.

The lights are down at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, south of Interstate 75, and also at Donna Michelle and Bruce B. Downs north of I-75. This includes the on and off ramps from the interstate, as well.
Police ask residents to treat lights as a four-way stop unless a marked unit and a police officer are directing traffic.

Tampa Electric Co. reports on its power outage website that 1,217 customers are without power. Restoration is estimated by 8:15 a.m.
