Athlete Spotlight: Patrick Hauri of Wharton Basketball

New Tampa Patch caught up with the senior guard after the Durant game on Dec. 1.

After jumping out to a 55-27 lead in the third quarter, the Wildcats settled into a 68-51 victory over visiting Durant on Dec. 1. Patch caught with senior guard/forward Patrick Hauri after the game.

Patch: You guys are a very young team, yet you seem very much in rhythm with each other. What do you attribute that to?

Hauri: We hang out together, we play ball after school together, everyone's cool with everybody's roles and we know what one another is capable of.

Patch: What's different about this year's team?

Hauri: Well, we're a little shorter, don't have the big names but different people are going to step it up this year.

Patch: What are some things you learned from last year's seniors that you hope to impart to this year's younger guys?

Hauri: That you have to work your way up; nothing is given.

Patch: How far can this team go?

Hauri: I think we'll be at least as good as last year's team.

Patch: What would you say is the biggest improvement in your game in the offseason?

Hauri: Shooting, probably.
