Scott, Crist Earn Primary Victories
Crist is the first person in Florida history to earn a gubernatorial nomination as both a Republican and a Democrat.
There were no surprises in Tuesday’s primary race for the governor’s office.
Gov. Rick Scott has once again earned the Republican nomination for the seat while former Gov. Charlie Crist won a nod from his new Democratic party.
Crist is the first person in Florida history to earn a nomination for governor from both parties. He was elected as a Republican to the state’s governor’s office in 2007 before switching to become an Independent before his term ended in 2011. He announced his move into the Democratic Party in 2012.
