The man wanted in a June 21 shooting in Wesley Chapel was nabbed by authorities during a traffic stop, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Simon Rafael Iglesia, 29, of Boyette Road in Wesley Chapel, was arrested yesterday after his vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Blvd. and State Road 54. Iglesia was booked into the Land O’ Lakes Jail for second degree attempted murder and aggravated assault. His bond is set at $350,000.
The incident began when three men were playing basketball on the subdivision’s court. Another three men arrived and an argument broke out, deputies say. The original three men got into two cars to leave. The second set of men followed; one fire three shots at the fleeing men. One bullet hit a nearby garage door, another hit the bumper of the victim’s car and the third went through the door and struck the victim in the side, Pasco reports say.
