Survivor of Syrian War to Speak in Tampa

Join USF student group Students in Solidarity with Syria for an opportunity to hear a first-hand account of the humanitarian crisis in Syria from human rights activist Qusai Zakarya.

Zakarya, who survived more than a year of life under siege in his hometown of Moadamiya, Syria, is on a North American tour, speaking about his survival of the August 21, 2013 chemical weapons attack as well as the horrors of living under siege. In its attempt to suppress the popular uprising for freedom and democracy in Syria, the Assad regime has used starvation as a weapon of war. Earlier this year, Zakarya entered into a 33-day hunger strike to rally worldwide support to break the illegal siege of cities across Syria. Don’t miss your opportunity to hear him speak in Tampa on May 16!

Date: Friday, May 16, 2014
Time: 6:30 pm
Location: USF Marshall Student Center, Room 2708
