Tampa Man, 21, Dies After Head-On Crash On Busch Boulevard

Derek Anthony Landes was driving at a high rate of speed in and out of traffic in the outside lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Tampa man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash on Busch Boulevard.

Derek Anthony Landes, 21, of Tampa, was driving east on Busch Boulevard west of Twin Lakes Boulevard at 4:56 p.m. Sept. 13 when the the crash occurred.

Landes was driving at a high rate of speed in and out of traffic in the outside lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Landes changed lanes and traveled into the inside lane behind traffic that was stopped where he swerved to the left and lost control of his Honda Prelude and drove in front of westbound traffic on Busch Boulevard where he struck a Dodge Caravan head on.

Landes was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition.

He died Sept. 15.

This incident remains under investigation.
