USF Federal Credit Union in New Tampa Robbed

The branch serves residents from New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Lutz and Land O' Lakes.

The Tampa Police department is searching for a man it says robbed the USF Federal Credit Union in New Tampa Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery took place around 12:30 p.m. when a man walked into the 6417 E. County Line Road bank, handed the teller a note and then fled the scene after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police describe the suspect as a black male between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches in height. He weighs about 170 pounds, appears to be in his early 20s and was last seen wearing a Philadelphia Phillies ball cap, navy blue shorts, gray tennis shoes and white T-shirt.

The man may be driving a silver Toyota Camry, possibly a 2013 or 2014 model. Police say the car was moving slowly through the parking lot around the time of the crime. They are unsure if it is connected to the robbery at this time.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS or text “CSTB plus your tip” to 274637. Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward.
