Wesley Chapel Shooting Suspect Identified

Pasco deputies need help finding the man they say shot a 20-year-old on June 21.

Pasco County Sheriff’s officials are seeking help finding a man they say was involved in a June 21 shooting in the Northwoods subdivision in Wesley Chapel.

According to a Pasco County media alert, Simon Rafael Iglesia, 29, of 27140 Big Sur Drive, is wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a 20-year-old man.

The incident began when three men were playing basketball on the subdivision’s court. Another three men arrived and an argument broke out, deputies say. The original three men got into two cars to leave. The second set of men followed; one fire three shots at the fleeing men. One bullet hit a nearby garage door, another hit the bumper of the victim’s car and the third went through the door and struck the victim in the side, Pasco reports say.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Anyone with information on Iglesia’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement right away. Iglesia is considered armed and dangerous.
