Wesley Chapel Woman Allegedly Beats Sister Over Toast

Maria Victoria Acevedo of Hatz Way was arrested on Nov. 20 after hitting her teen sister with a pot and slamming her head into the floor, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

A sisterly squabble over toast turned ugly and landed a Wesley Chapel woman in jail earlier this month.

Twenty-one-year-old Maria Victoria Acevedo, of Hatz Way, was arrested Nov. 20 and charged with domestic battery for allegedly beating her 16-year-old sister after discovering the teen had taken her bread to make toast.

According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report, the younger sister apologized, but Acevedo pulled the teen’s hair and twice smacked her in the head with a 6-inch cooking pot. The pair tussled and Acevedo slammed her sister’s head into the floor before the teen escaped to her bedroom where she locked the door, according to the report.

Another member of the family told law enforcement that Acevedo also grabbed a knife and began stabbing and hitting the bedroom door after her sister escaped. Authorities responded to the home after several 911 hang up calls.

The teen was left with a bump on her head and a small shoulder cut, according to the report. Acevedo was taken to the Land O’ Lakes Jail where she was later released. She refused to give a statement to authorities.
