Wharton Lady Wildcats Knock off Bloomingdale 3-1
The Lady Wildcats improve to 15-3 (4-1) by knocking off Bloomingdale 9-3 (4-1).
In the finale of district play for the regular season, the Lady Wildcats bested the Bloomingdale Lady Bulls on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
It throws the whole district into a rock-paper-scissors scenario. The top three teams -- Bloomingdale, Plant, Wharton -- all have 4-1 district records. The next tiebreaker is head-to-head. Well, Plant beat Wharton, Bloomingdale beat Plant and Wharton beat Bloomingdale. The next tiebreaker is overall record and Wharton controls their own destiny.
The Lady Wildcats stand at 15-3, Bloomingdale comes in at 9-3, and Plant is at 15-8. Everyone has three games left so things could change, but the Cats have a significant lead in win percentage and if they win out, they will take the number one seed.

The district playoffs start Oct. 25 and should be very competitive.
On Tuesday at Wharton, Bloomingdale came out sharp and took the first game 25-23. Wharton looked a bit out of sync and was a little off with her shots. After jumping out 4-1 early, they found themselves behind 11-8 just minutes later.

Andreychuk got going in the later part of the first game but the standout in game one was freshman Karissa Rhodes of Bloomingdale. She contributed nine kills on the night. Game one final score: 25-23 Bloomingdale.
Wildcat senior Stephany Brown got going in the second game, stuffing balls at the net and putting down kills and touch shots mostly in the middle of the net. She finished the match with 13 kills and eight blocks. Game two final score: 25-21 Wharton.
Andreychuk got going in game three, crushing shots from the outside. Andreychuk finished the match with 17 kills. The Wildcats marched to victory. Game three final score: 25-16 Wharton.
In game four, Brown started it off with a slam at the net and followed it up with several other kills while Andreychuk continued to fire away. Bloomingdale battled back and took the lead at 9-8. That's when Wharton started to falter and gave up a 12-9 lead just minutes later.
After that, the best volley of the match went down. For maybe a minute-and-a-half, both sides dove and dug, set and smashed until the Wildcats finally prevailed, punctuated by an Andreychuk kill.
Game four's final score was 25-20 Wharton, meaning the Cats won the match-up 3-1.
