Wharton Wildcats Head to Durant Today (Sept. 30)

The Wharton Wildcats travel to Durant to take on the Cougars.

After a much needed bye week, the Wharton Wildcats football team (1-2) travel to Durant (2-1, 1-0) to take on the Cougars. The Cougars are coming off a hard-fought district victory against .

The Wildcats have a great opportunity to even up their record and build some momentum going into their district opener at .

The bye week gave them time to get healthy. Sophomore quarterback Chase Litton should be 100 percent after the concussion he suffered back on Sept. 2. He had a decent outing in the team's last game against Chamberlain, going 10 for 20 for 134 yards.

More importantly, the skill guys are starting to emerge. Every-down back senior carried the ball 22 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns in their last contest. He also caught four passes for 74 yards.

Senior is getting it done on the other side of the ball. He had 14 tackles in the Chamberlain game and is averaging better than seven per game, despite playing tight end and wide receiver.
