Wrong-Way Driver Arrested By USF Police

The woman was reportedly traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Fletcher Avenue.

TAMPA, FL — A 27-year-old Miami woman faces DUI charges after officers from the University of South Florida Police Department say they spotted her going the wrong way on Fletcher Avenue early Tuesday morning.

According to the police department, Atenas Febres was heading west in the eastbound lanes of Fletcher Avenue around 3:43 a.m. Tuesday. A USF police officer saw her vehicle and witnessed two vehicles take evasive action to avoid a collision, an email from the agency stated. The officer was able to stop Febres at Fletcher and 46th Street.

“An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected upon contact with the driver,” the email noted.
