Deegan McCoy, Jakobe Gilyard power Niceville past Navarre in district opener (getthecoast.com) β Niceville football fans saw a big rebound as the Eagles beat Navarre 58β29 in their district opener, powered by six touchdowns from quarterback Deegan McCoy and three scores from Jakobe Gilyard. A 9/11 remembrance ceremony, including World Trade Center steel and a U.S. Capitol flag presented to Principal Amy Meyer, made the night especially meaningful for the Niceville community.

Their NaGISA research program, unique among high schools worldwide, brings big opportunities but also big costs, and the team is now seeking local sponsors to keep their cuttingβedge work going.

Update: Isabelle Johnson charged with 2nd-degree murder, abuse of corpse (wjhg.com) β A woman has now been formally charged with second-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence in the killing of a Niceville man whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in Freeport. She was arrested after 45 days on the run, and Walton County investigators say the case remains active, meaning charges could still change as new evidence comes in.
