• Park contractor denies liability in Silver Springs State Park slip-and-fall lawsuit as plaintiff's lawyer exits (ocala-news.com) — An Ocala woman's slip-and-fall lawsuit over an alleged hidden tree stump at Silver Springs State Park has hit a snag as her Orlando attorneys move to withdraw, citing irreconcilable differences. With trial not expected until late 2028, she still has time to find new counsel while the park's concession contractor continues to deny negligence and shift responsibility to the state.
   

• Marion County Pets: Evie Jean, Charles, and Meeka (wcjb.com) — Several Marion County shelter pets, including Evie Jean, Charles, and Meeka, are looking for new homes near Ocala with a $50 adoption fee that covers surgery, vaccines, license, and microchip. Local residents can call Marion County Animal Services or visit the shelter Tuesday through Saturday to meet them and see more adoptable animals online.
   

• A Miami Sedano's sold one of Friday's two big money lottery draw winners (miamiherald.com) — A Fantasy 5 ticket worth $56,615 was sold at the Love's Travel Stop on NW 47th Avenue in Ocala, sharing the jackpot with another winner from Miami-Dade. If you bought a ticket with numbers 3, 11, 14, 19 and 31, you'll need to claim your prize at a Florida Lottery district office, where appointments are optional but available.
