📰 News we're reading

1. Orlando woman killed, three seriously injured in rollover crash on Colonial Drive (orlando-news.com) — A 37-year-old Orlando woman died and three Orlando residents were seriously hurt in a Sunday night rollover crash at Colonial Drive and Sherman Street in Orange County. Troopers say the woman's Chevrolet turned into the path of an oncoming Mercedes, and none of the four people involved were wearing seatbelts.

2. Look both ways: Magnolia Avenue Phase 1 complete (yourcommunitypaper.com) — Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando has officially switched to two-way traffic between South Street and Livingston, adding nearly 100 new street parking spaces and folding Lymmo buses into regular lanes. City officials say the change, near the courthouse and Dr. Phillips Center, should improve safety now and set the stage for wider sidewalk upgrades starting in 2027.

3. Tampa Avenue closure near Camping World Stadium to last about 2 months (mynews13.com) — A key stretch of Tampa Avenue by Camping World Stadium in Orlando will be closed through Oct. 31 for utility, drainage, and sidewalk work tied to the SR-408 expansion. Nearby small businesses like Legacy Café worry about lost customers, while officials say the long-term improvements are needed as major stadium events return later this year.

4. Hall of Fame college basketball series coming to Orlando through 2028, kicks off with Florida-FAU doubleheader (orlandoshine.com) — Orlando will host the college basketball Hall of Fame Series at the Kia Center through 2028, starting with a Florida–Georgia Tech and FAU–VCU doubleheader on December 12. Local fans can already buy one ticket that covers both games, bringing big-name college hoops and strong Gator and Owl followings into downtown.

5. Antisemitic symbols, gestures displayed during boxing event at Orlando's Kia Center (fox35orlando.com) — Antisemitic symbols and gestures at a weekend boxing event inside Orlando's city-owned Kia Center have sparked condemnation from a local boxer, Jewish leaders, and the city itself. Officials say a swastika flag was removed once noticed, while community voices warn the open display of hate should concern all Orlando residents.
