📰 News we're reading

1. Price changes coming for Orlando Utilities Commission customers. Here's when (clickorlando.com) — Orlando Utilities Commission customers will see a new "DemandLevel" charge on their power bills starting with the November statement, based on their highest 15-minute energy use in October. At the same time, OUC is cutting per-kilowatt-hour consumption rates by 12.5%, so your overall bill impact will depend on when you use electricity and how well you manage peak demand.

2. Ride DTO to offer larger vehicles, expanded hours (mynews13.com) — Orlando is expanding its Ride DTO downtown shuttle with larger, air-conditioned vehicles, one ADA-accessible, and longer hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Starting in December, new operator Freebee will continue $1 rides and free senior trips, while keeping app and phone booking so downtown residents can rely more on this affordable alternative to walking or rideshares at night.

3. Man accused of pointing rifle at shoppers, employees inside Orlando supermarket (wesh.com) — An armed man was arrested after allegedly walking into Sedano's Supermarket on Curry Ford Road in Orlando with a rifle, pointing it at shoppers and employees, and attempting to take a watch from a jewelry stand. Police say he claimed the gun was fake, but officers and witnesses report it was real and loaded; he now faces aggravated assault and attempted robbery charges.

4. State Senator Jason Brodeur tours Second Harvest Food Bank (mysanfordherald.com) — Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida recently hosted State Senator Jason Brodeur at its Orlando distribution center to showcase how state funding helps move fresh food from Florida farmers to local families. Leaders highlighted increased support for the Farmers Feeding Florida program, the food bank's disaster-response role, and its ability to provide about 300,000 meals a day across Central Florida.

5. Amazon suspends 21 Air flights following fatal Miami plane crash (wftv.com) — Cargo flights operated by carrier 21 Air that regularly pass through Orlando International Airport are suspended after a deadly crash in Miami, though Amazon says customers shouldn't see major delays. Investigators are probing the plane's landing speed and crew actions, while 21 Air focuses on supporting affected families and cooperating with federal authorities.
