1. Just released: Federal report reveals what caused Orlando holiday drone show disaster (clickorlando.com) — Federal investigators have finally detailed what went wrong at the 2024 downtown Orlando holiday drone show over Lake Eola, where falling drones seriously injured a 7-year-old boy. The NTSB report cites misconfigured flight positions and missing pre-launch checks that shrank the safety buffer, while a related lawsuit against the city of Orlando and show operators is now moving toward a proposed settlement.
   

2. Orlando VA Marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month with Events Focused on Healthy Relationships, Safety (va.gov) — Orlando-area veterans and families can take part in a series of Domestic Violence Awareness Month events at the Orlando VA Medical Center in Lake Nona this October, including a Healthy Relationships Workshop and Resource Fair on Oct. 19. Sessions feature personal safety tips from Orlando Police, a healthy relationships seminar, and a yoga class, plus ongoing awareness activities like Wear Purple Day on Oct. 22.
   

3. Central Florida kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations (wftv.com) — Orlando is marking Hispanic Heritage Month with a new art exhibition at City Hall, showcasing local artists through Nov. 5 and tied to this year's "Unidos, Somos Más" theme. Nearby, Lake Nona's Boxi Park and the Central Florida Zoo are also hosting Hispanic Heritage celebrations later this month, offering music, dancing, family activities, and cultural programming for local residents.
   

4. Lawsuit accuses Orlando Chamber of Commerce of faking a century of history (orlandoshine.com) — Orlando's main economic development group has sued the newer Orlando Chamber of Commerce, accusing it of misusing historic chamber names, trademarks, and accomplishments dating back more than a century. The case, filed in Orange County Circuit Court, seeks damages and an injunction, arguing the newer group's branding has confused county officials, business leaders, and residents about who truly represents Orlando's business community.
