Seven electric scooters were stolen from UCF main campus in two weeks (wftv.com) β UCF police in Orlando are investigating seven electric scooter thefts from the main campus over the last two weeks, mostly near Towers and Knights Plaza. Officers urge students to lock scooters and bikes at designated racks with sturdy U-locks and to register them with Parking and Transportation Services or UCFPD so recovered property can be returned more easily.

Orange County passes ordinance to regulate e-scooters, e-bikes (mynews13.com) β Orange County has approved new rules that cap e-scooter and e-bike speeds at 10 mph on sidewalks and shared paths and 20 mph elsewhere, with fines and even impoundment possible. Orlando-area deputies will start with education and warnings but can issue $100 citations, as officials and parents push for safer streets and hope for a future statewide law.

Orlando breaks ground on RoseArts District redevelopment in Rosemont (fox35orlando.com) β Orlando's long-discussed RoseArts District in Rosemont is finally under construction, bringing 1,600 new apartments in the first phase, including 160 affordable units plus retail space. Over time, the former Lake Orlando Golf Course site is expected to deliver nearly 6,000 homes, 65 acres of parks, and hundreds of millions in wages for local workers.
