Bears Who Care

Bringing joy to children during COVID-19

Bears Who Care, a 12 year-old Central Florida charity that provides comfort and promotes literacy to disadvantaged children, will be impacting lives in a “beary” unique way. Through a State Farm Good Neighbor Grant, Bears Who Care will not only distribute teddy bears and books to children at local hospitals but also support local families impacted by the COVID -19 pandemic.

We have huge hearts for children and wanted to find a way we could still touch the lives of those in need, so we are channeling our support in a different way,” Kari Schmitz, co-founder of Bears Who Care said. “Thanks to the generosity of State Farm, we will be providing gift cards along with teddy bears and books to families with children financially impacted, as our hope is to bring happiness and relief to not only young lives but entire families within in our community.”

Bears Who Care is designed to help children in need who are between the ages of one and 12. Whether the child’s hardship is illness, injury or financial difficulty, the goal is the same – to engage their imaginations, temporarily relieve pain and create happy memories for them. With joy and compassion, this groups delivers brand new, hard-cover books and plush teddy bears to children at area hospitals, churches and schools to offer companionship and stimulate learning.
